SALHA AL BUSAIDY AND THE MILLION DOLLAR BAND Based in - UAE Salha is rightly regarded as one of the most sought after female vocalists in the Middle East. Famous for her chameleon like ability to strut her funk in an afro or drape elegantly over a grand piano, she brings her vast experience to every audience at every event in every style. Elegance, exuberance and attention to detail have become her benchmark as her reputation has constantly grown from her very first performance. She has fronted bands in Germany , L.A. , London , Majorca , Ethiopia , Jordan , Egypt , Lebanon , Sri Lanka , Doha , Dubai and her native Oman , played several contracts in the Middle East with her acoustic duo, “Zephyr” and for every big corporation in Dubai. Her experience ranges from radio (news reading, commercials and jingles), and television (music videos, voiceovers, sitcoms, and documentary presentation) to magazines (print commercials and interviews) and of course, stage performances (fashion shows, dance shows, theatre and singing). As a singer, she is versatile enough to join an incomplete duo, trio, quartet or band, or can be hired as such in its entirety. She is perfect for quiet jazz evenings, corporate or personal functions, or for a good old fashioned party! One singer, one choice, one lady. The million dollar band is a professional corporate band with many years experience between the 5 members! We play anything from jazz at corporate functions, full on disco explosion (in costume!) or even rock music for the rugby 7s. Recently we have done the launch of the Boris Becker Tower, the MMI staff party, the Fillies and Fashion night at Nad al Sheba and that's only this week! They have done events for Emirates, Xerox, Nestle, GlaxoSmithKline, HSBC, What's On Awards, Ahlan Hot 100 and many more. They have performed for Omani and Malaysian Royalty, Sir Cliff Richard, Sir Jeffrey Archer, Bayern Munich FC and fans every Saturday at Scarlett's, Emirates Towers. Andy has been in the Middle
East for 10 years, originally coming from Scarborough. North Yorkshire,
England. Having played drums since the age of 12 in school plays, theatre shows
and far too many scratch bands with his friends, he finally hooked up with two
very like minded people to form the original band Cockroach in the early 90's. Joel White
The son of an opera singer, Joel White
began playing classical piano at the age of three and has now been performing
professionally all over the world for over fifteen years. After studying
commercial music in Vancouver, Canada for two years he found himself swept up
by the industry and spent the next several years travelling Asia and Europe
performing in a wide variety of musical acts. Now living in Dubai, Joel works with several acts and has entertained at some of the world's largest corporate events. He is working on recording projects with the country's best original artists and always looks forward to what the future will bring. Grant Collins
Born: Dundee, Scotland May 9, 1966.
First professional gig was playing on a
3-song EP for a band called 'South of France'; the EP was notably produced by
Daniel Lamois, but was never picked up by the label. Studied bass in Toronto
with Mick Jones, who taught Sting, one of my early heroes. Moved to Dubai in 2003 to start up a sound and light company 'Access All Areas', got back into p laying with a couple of 'pick-up' bands, through this I was offered a gig with Salha and haven't looked back. I consider this a renaissance in my musical career, and am enjoying the experience immensely.
